Weight Loss Challenge: 52lb in 52weeks #4

Weight loss challenge: 52lb in 52 weeks

This week I’m feeling more positive about my weight loss journey by far. I’ve managed to substitute a number of foods for lower fat alternatives and although this won’t get me far on its own, it’s a start. One of the things I’m struggling with most is getting my head into the right mind frame to diet. I’ve got used to eating what I want, when I want and turning back the clock to a time when I ate what I should, when I should is difficult. By swapping foods such as regular meat for lean meat, I’m doing something positive, without needing to cut anything out. Hopefully in a couple of weeks I’ll be in a better frame of mind to do more.

In addition to swapping fatty foods for low fat alternatives, I’ve also cut out chocolate bars. As chocolate is addictive and I’ve eaten rather a lot of it lately, this was no mean feat. Unfortunately, my coping mechanism came back to bite me. I decided to buy some chocolate spread, the idea being that I could have some on toast if I got really desperate for chocolate. What I hadn’t counted on was that the chocolate spread was so yummy that I would rather eat it than have a chocolate bar. I may well have been spotted once or twice with a spoonful of the delicious goo, which rather defeated the object! On the bright side, I know what I will be asking for instead of chocolate eggs this Easter.

With the food swapping and the treacherous chocolate goo, you may be wondering how the diet went this week. Well, I’m happy to report that I lost the required 1lb! I now have 49lb to lose in 49 weeks.

So, onward and upward to next weeks plan of attack. As food substitution worked well this week, I will be doing the same next week with a few tweaks. I won’t be buying any crisps or chocolate… the children won’t thank me for this but as they both still have mountains of sweets from Christmas, I don’t feel too bad about it. I’m also going to put more thought into meal planning as we often find that at by the end of the week there is no fresh food left so we end up poking around the freezer and coming up with frozen pizzas or fish and chips.

Ideally I want to make an extra effort next week to lose 2lb and get myself back to being head of the game!
