So, I’ve somehow managed to get myself tagged in another blogger interview tag. This time the culprit is the the lovely Musings of a Mother who has passed me the Sunshine Blogger Award. I admit, I do enjoy a good blogger interview tag, on the whole they’re usually fun to write and I also love to read the responses the people I tag give and learn a little more about who they are. So, without further ado, here are my answers to the Sunshine Blogger Award.
Tell me about a ‘trendy’ parenting thing that gets on your nerves. Go on. Let it out!
I don’t think I’m trendy enough to even know what the current trendy parenting things are. I can’t think of a single one so if anyone can suggest a trendy parenting thing for me to be irritated by I’d appreciate it!
What has been the biggest change in you since you have become a parent?
I would say the biggest change in me is that I now always think of Baby first no matter what I’m doing. It’s like I’m always multi-tasking. Whatever I’m doing there is always a fairly large portion of my brain dedicated to thinking of her, which can be just a little distracting.
What’s your opinion of designer everything for baby? (I’m talking highchairs and the lot)
I think they’re a bit of a waste of money. I would rather worry about whether something is safe, comfortable and fun for Baby, rather than whether it has a certain tag on it. High Chairs are a brilliant example. I have friends who’ve spent £200-£300 for a high chair only to end up using an Ikea Antelope, which costs about £20, because their baby was happier in it.
What’s the last photo on your camera roll of?
Unsurprisingly it’s a picture of baby. I save her photos on my computer under files marked 0-3 Months, 3-6 Months etc. The last time I checked 3-6 had around 3,000!!!!!!!!!!!
What’s the best TV show of all time?
Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Ok, it may not be the height of intellectual television viewing but it first aired in the UK while I was at college when I had a LOT of time to watch it.
Does your child have a favourite song? (What is it? What is it?)
Baby absolutely loves “Walking in a winter wonderland” which was fine in the run up to Christmas but it’s now February and I’ve come to hate it just a little bit.
How old was your little one when you took your first holiday & what was it like? Just N/A if you haven’t yet taken one.
We haven’t taken one yet but we’re planning to go glamping in spring which has really got me excited! We started glamping (which is camping but with a massive tent, electricity and carpet… You know, just the essentials) the year before I got pregnant but we had to skip the following year because I had such a difficult pregnancy. Now I just can’t wait to get the tent out again and head down to the coast to show Baby the sea.
Have you ever had a baby throw up on you just as you were about to leave the house and gone out with vomit on you anyway?
Yep! If I got changed every time Baby decided to spit up on me I wouldn’t have time to do anything else.
Tell me about one thing you feel passionately about. Anything.
Discounting Baby and Grumpy Dad who are my world, I’d have to say fighting against bad service. I know it sounds a bit silly but when I see things like Slimming World trying to wriggle out of Consumer Contract Law and British Gas miss-leading their customers into purchasing expensive kit that they don’t need, it really gets to me and I just can’t drop it until I’ve done something about it. That’s part of the reason I became so serious about my blog.
What do you feel is the most significant thing that has shaped you to become the person you are today?
Probably the fact that I had a pretty rough childhood, the people who should have cared for me no matter what abandoned me and I ended up losing everything more than once. This has made me appreciate what I do have a whole lot more, it’s also made me pretty tough and persistent. I don’t give up on the things I want easily and I’m determined that Baby will never feel the way I did as a child.
