Slimming World Week 4, 5, 6, & 7: I bet you thought I was off the wagon!

Slimming World weeks 4, 5, 6 & 7: Weight loss journey

Week 4

It’s been 4 weeks since I started Slimming World with a fairly pessimistic view about whether it would work or not and I have to admit that I’ve been pleasantly surprised. The diet has been fairly easy to follow and although I’ve had the odd craving, on the whole I’ve been full and satisfied all month.

As with any diets, this one has it’s pros and cons but on reflection, the pros certainly outweigh to cons for me!

Pros

  • No weighing food;
  • Eat as much free food as you like;
  • The Hi-Fi bars are yummy;
  • Weight loss is at a steady and healthy pace;
  • Use Syns to eat your favourite counted foods;
  • Bread and cheese as a healthy extra!

Cons

  • I don’t like the personality of Slimming World as a company;
  • I’ve had zero contact with the group leader since joining;
  • Group usually isn’t wheelchair/buggy friendly;
  • Paying for missed weeks if you forget to inform the group leader seems like a rip-off;
  • Having the number of weeks you can miss per year dictated to you.

At the end of the day, the diet is getting results so I won’t let my dislike of Slimming World as a company get in the way of my successful weight loss.

Slimming World week 4,5,6 & 7: Fruit

The curse of a day out

When I’m on a diet the worst thing that I can do is have a day out. The holiday feel of it makes me lose all self control, so when I went to Cotswold Wildlife Park it was fairly predictable that I’d eat a lot of things that I shouldn’t. All told, I probably had around 60 syns that day, even though I tried not to over do it. That being said, I also walked 4 times my average steps (maybe 5) and did a lot of gardening during that weekend, so I was hoping that had helped to offset my bad behaviour come weigh-in.

Slimming World Week 4 Weigh-In

Given my bad behaviour during week 4 I wasn’t sure what to expect at weigh-in. I had hoped to lost at least the 0.5lbs to get my half stone sticker, but sadly it wasn’t to be and I found myself gaining 0.5 instead. To say that I was upset was an understatement, this small gain shook my resolve and my confidence, and left me wondering if the previous weeks had just been flukes.

Week 5

I did wonder how I would cope with this week after such a knock to my confidence in week 4 but I decided to knuckle down and have the best week I could. I was further buoyed by the suspicion that the previous weeks gain might have been in part caused by water retention.

The price of fruit

While I love the Slimming World diet, I am starting to wonder if it’s going to leave me completely bankrupt! I’m eating so much fruit every day that I have to restock two or three times a week. Baby is also fruit mad so between the two of us no fruit is safe!

Holiday Worries

Another thing weighing on my mind is our family camping holiday during week 6. I want to be good but as we’re camping I know I’ll end up eating out most days and I can’t see myself ordering salad because life is just too short! So I’ve come to the conclusion that I’m just going to have to accept a weight gain and work extra hard to get rid of it the following week.

Slimming World Week 5 Weigh-In

I was certain I had lost weight this week and I wasn’t wrong. I’d lost another fantastic 1.5lb, taking me over the 7lb mark and earning a shiny sticker and a little certificate which is now stuck to my fridge. I felt fantastic seeing the results of my hard work and relieved that last week was just a blip. I’m a little sad that I’ll probably lose my 7lb status next week, but that can’t be helped.

Week 6

I was on holiday during week 6. I ate cake and ice cream, fish and chips, and McDonalds, and I refused to make myself feel guilty for it.

Week 7

I didn’t quite make it back onto my Slimming World diet until the Tuesday of week 7 as there was food and chocolate to finish off (Chocolate cannot stay in the house uneaten!). As a result I was fully expecting a significant gain at my Thursday weigh-in. I guessed it would be about 3lb.

Slimming World Week 7 Weigh-In

Although I was expecting a significant gain this week I couldn’t help but think that my trousers still felt loose as I walked to my group. Regardless of this, I got onto the scales with a sense of dread only to discover that my weight had stayed the same!

This was absolutely the best result I could have hoped for and I’m now looking forward to next weeks weigh in with a far more positive attitude.
