About Bepanthen Nappy Care Ointment

Bepanthen is a nappy cream which can be used at every nappy change to help keep your baby’s skin moisurised and free from nappy rash. It contains no fragrances, preservatives, colours or antiseptics and prides itself on being gentle enough to use on highly sensitive or premature baby skin.

Bapanthen comes in tubes of 30g, 50g or 100g.

My review of Bapanthen Nappy Care Ointment

If you have a baby then then likelihood is that you spend a lot of time worrying about what’s going in, and inevitably, coming out of them. As a result nappy creams are something that you will be very familiar with. Over the past 6 months I’ve tested many with varying results but when the opportunity to review Bepanthen presented itself I was more than happy to try one more.

Although most nappy creams do promise to be skin kind and contain moisurisers, Bepanthen go’s one step further by promising that their cream is suitable for highly sensitive and even premature baby skin. As Baby has inherited a little of her dads sensitive skin and I have noticed she often has a slightly red bottom, I was interested to see if Bapanthen would make a noticeable difference.

Baby getting ready for a nappy change using Bepanthen nappy cream

The first time I slathered Baby’s rear end in Bepanthen I have to admit that I was a little put off by the texture. It feels like a strange mix of a relatively firm cream with a good helping of baby oil which made it feel a little greasy. However, the cream does glide on and spread well and as it comes in a tube, rather than a tub, there is very little mess or waste. I also found that after using it a few times I became accustom to the new texture and stopped noticing the difference. In fact I noticed that it was easier to clean off of my hands than some of the other creams I’ve used.

One of my pet hates with nappy creams is the heavy white residue that many creams leave. This is often quite difficult to completely remove with wet wipes and can’t be good for baby’s skin. So, I was happy to see that although Bepanthen does leave some residue it is very similar to a layer of baby oil and is easily removed with no additional effort.

Bepanthen nappy cream review

The most important concern with nappy cream is obviously that it protects Baby’s cute but deadly bottom! And I’m happy to say that within two days of using Bepanthen the redness I mention was completely gone and stayed that way despite Baby having a rather nasty cold that caused an interesting variety of poop explosions. As a result I’m happy to say that Bepanthen does work well at both treating and preventing nappy problems even under difficult circumstances.

All in all I’m very happy with Bepanthen as a cream. It works very well, leaves very little residue and comes in a variety of tube sizes which make it convenient both for home or the nappy bag.
