Review: Qwerkity Gifts for Men + Giveaway

Querkity No1 man gift, the chilli grater

Now that Valentines is out of the way you have probably noticed that all the red harts and flowers have made way for pink harts and and even more flowers. Yes, just in case you’ve missed it, Mothers Day is on March 26th. But with all the stores rushing to remind you not to forget Mothers Day (if you know what’s good for you) you may well be struggling to find gifts for the man in your life.

If that’s you, then have no fear. I have been working with Qwerkity, a quirky (do you see what they did there!?) online gift shop, which sells all sorts of interesting gadgets, gizmos and thingies, to suit all pockets.

With the guidance of Grumpy Dad, who rules our kitchen, I have been looking at Qwerkity’s kitchen gifts to come up with our top five quirky kitchen gadgets.

5. Baby Boa Wrench

There aren’t many things more manly than opening a jar. Unfortunately for Grumpy Dad it’s one of the few thing’s he’s truly terrible at. As a result he often has to do the walk of shame to ask me to open jars for him. The Baby Boa Wrench has made the top 5 because it’s small but fits most lids and prevents the embarrassment of seeing the smug look on your other half’s face.

4. 3 in 1 Chef Hero

Do need a little “extra” present to go with the main present and the second present, or is it just my brain which works like that? The 3 in 1 Chef Hero is a rocking little kitchen gadget in the shape of a “rock on” sign which can act as a spoon rest, pot lid raiser, or suspend a spoon above your pot. This would be a perfect gift for Grumpy Dad if only I could only train him to put wooden spoons down on the spoon rests, instead of next to them! The struggle is real.

3. Personalised cheese board set

If I’m honest, this item has made the cut because I do love cheese, and who wouldn’t want a cheese board with their name on it?

2. Pizza Maker Kit

Pizza, the traditional meal for men left to their own devices. Here at Grumpy HQ if the meal hasn’t been planned, it will usually end up being pizza. With this pizza making kit you can at least pretend that the default man food is actually a lovingly prepared meal.

1. Chilli Mill

I have yet to meet a man who didn’t see a chilli as a challenge, but who has fresh chillies in the house all the time? This chilli mill was Grumpy Dads top pick for the perfect manly kitchen gift. Simply pour dried chillies into the chilli shaped acrylic well, then turn the stainless steel base like a pepper grinder to get freshly cut chilli flakes. Perfect if you argue about the heat in meals as much as Grumpy Dad and I do!

  1. I love my blender πŸ˜€ we have a small cheap one but it’s all we need. Works well with everything, has different add ons for different things. Simple but versatile πŸ˜€

  2. Can I say my knives? I have one particular favourite that I simply can’t prepare a meal without. Otherwise my garlic crusher. I know garlic crushers have a bad press, but mine is excellent. It was a wedding present, it’s in daily use and we’ll be celebrating our 40th anniversary this year so it’s doing a grand job!

  3. It’s not really a gadget but I couldn’t live without my meat cleaver. It’s not a brand name knife (in fact I got it second hand) but it’s really sharp and a good size and I use it for EVERYTHING.

  4. My slow cooker, i didnt realise the amount of recipes there is for one of these, so having great fun trying them all out

  5. I love my potato peeler – just a simple one but so useful for so many fruits and vegetables and I would be totally lost without it.

  6. Definitely the kettle, couldn’t manage without a brew! Thanks for offering this great prize. Good luck everybody πŸ™‚

  7. my hand mixer. Its 35 years old I got it as a wedding gift and its perfect for cakes, cream, etc and small to store.
