Slimming World Week 10: If it can go wrong…

Slimming World Week 10 feature image

I expected this week to be much like all the others… Some wins, some slip ups, with (hopefully) a loss at the end of it all. However, this week I haven’t had much time to think about weight loss. I’ve been too busy dealing with one thing after another. Oops! It all started on Monday. After a fairly average weekend I decided to start the week by dropping my phone down the toilet… D’oh! For some people this might be a slight inconvenience, but I use my phone to organise mine and my families lives. Without it I wasn’t even […]

Slimming World Week 9: Takeaways

Slimming World weight loss journey, week 9: Takeaways - feature image

This week has been a bit of a train wreck diet wise. So many things have gone wrong and I’ve ended up making excuses for eating the wrong things and nibbling, nearly every day! It all started on Saturday… The Takeaway Exemption We don’t have takeaways often in our house. In fact, they usually only happen once a month or less… This Saturday was one of those rare occasions when Grumpy Dad said he didn’t want to cook, so we ordered in. I did think about having a chicken salad instead of the yummy pizza everyone else was having but […]

Slimming World Week 8: Post holiday lull

Slimming World week 8: Bread feature image

My second week back from holiday and you think I would be back to normal but no such luck. Before my holiday choosing the right foods, cutting down on bread and filling up on fruit, wash second nature. This week it has been more of a struggle. My biggest issue at the moment is bread. On holiday I allowed myself to eat as much bread as I wanted so going back to just one slice a day has been too much for me. As a result my daily Syns are hovering around 15 (ok, 15.5) and that’s just not where […]

Slimming World Week 4, 5, 6, & 7: I bet you thought I was off the wagon!

Slimming World weeks 4, 5, 6 & 7: Weight loss journey

Week 4 It’s been 4 weeks since I started Slimming World with a fairly pessimistic view about whether it would work or not and I have to admit that I’ve been pleasantly surprised. The diet has been fairly easy to follow and although I’ve had the odd craving, on the whole I’ve been full and satisfied all month. As with any diets, this one has it’s pros and cons but on reflection, the pros certainly outweigh to cons for me! Pros No weighing food; Eat as much free food as you like; The Hi-Fi bars are yummy; Weight loss is […]

Slimming World week 3: Peaks and troughs

Slimming World week 3 feature image

With any diet you can expect good days and bad and this week has had both. At the beginning of the week I was excited. I’d tried on a pair of my small size 18 trousers and they fit perfectly. This was a good sign that I would soon be in a size 16. I had also started to feel less hungry, as if my body had adapted to the change in diet from processed food and sweets, to fresh food and fruit. Unfortunately the weekend was a turning point. Child wanted to go to McDonald’s, so I reluctantly decided […]

Slimming World Week 2: No flip flops for me!

Slimming World Week 2 Feature Image

After my successful loss of 3.5lbs last week I was unexpectedly subdued. I still don’t really understand why. After all, I should have been over the moon with the result. Still, despite my mood I settled down to another week on Slimming World. Week 2 This week was far easier in many ways as I already knew which of my favourite foods were free and the Syn counts for my favourite pointed foods. I’ve found that I’m eating bucket loads of fruit and yogurt, and filling myself up on jacket potatoes and baked beans. Bacon and eggs for breakfast is […]

Slimming World week 1: Not another diet!

Slimming World week 1: Feature photo

For the past two years since Baby was born all I seem to do is start diets. There was my first attempt to join Slimming World online which left me fuming, my disastrous experience with Lighter Life which left me in need of medical treatment, and a whole host of calorie counting and food optimisation attempts which just left me hungry. With all that in mind, I was hesitant to announce “another” diet attempt, as I really don’t like failing, particularly in public. But after seeing my wedding photos I felt very disappointed in myself and my size 18 figure. I […]

Coolsculpting, cosmetic surgery without the surgery?

Coolsculpting feature image

I’ve been overweight my entire life, thanks to the diet of junk food and takeaways my parents deemed a balanced diet. But with my wedding fast approaching I’m desperate to lose my flab and fit into my beautiful wedding dress. Something that is going to require a LOT of hard work! I’m not ashamed to say that I’ve often thought of cosmetic surgery. But having researched it, I’m just not willing to go through the trauma of having my fat brutally removed, my abdomen cut from one side to the other, the long recovery times, and the chance of infection […]

Weight Loss Diary – Hitting 10% of my goal

Weight Loss Diary

Losing weight should be easy, you eat moderately, you don’t stuff yourself full of junk food and you lose weight. In reality though, losing weight is a pain in the ass! Human bodies evolved to be efficient in a hunter gatherer environment, which means that we crave fats and sugars and are designed to be constantly moving about and working. In a modern society where sugar and fat is easily accessible and we spend most of our time in front of a computer screen, it’s no wonder that most of us could do with losing a few lbs. My weight […]

52lb in 52 Weeks weight loss challenge – Oops!

Weight Loss Diary

Cast your minds back to the beginning of the year when I started my 52lb in 52 weeks challenge. I was so full of enthusiasm and so sure that, as I had done something similar before, I would be able to do it again. Well, coming back to the present I would love to tell you that it had worked, that I am on target and will soon be a new thinner me… Hell, I’d even like to be able to tell you that I had fallen off the wagon, but for that to have happened I would have had […]
