Slimming World week 3: Peaks and troughs

Slimming World week 3 feature image

With any diet you can expect good days and bad and this week has had both. At the beginning of the week I was excited. I’d tried on a pair of my small size 18 trousers and they fit perfectly. This was a good sign that I would soon be in a size 16. I had also started to feel less hungry, as if my body had adapted to the change in diet from processed food and sweets, to fresh food and fruit. Unfortunately the weekend was a turning point. Child wanted to go to McDonald’s, so I reluctantly decided […]

Slimming World Week 2: No flip flops for me!

Slimming World Week 2 Feature Image

After my successful loss of 3.5lbs last week I was unexpectedly subdued. I still don’t really understand why. After all, I should have been over the moon with the result. Still, despite my mood I settled down to another week on Slimming World. Week 2 This week was far easier in many ways as I already knew which of my favourite foods were free and the Syn counts for my favourite pointed foods. I’ve found that I’m eating bucket loads of fruit and yogurt, and filling myself up on jacket potatoes and baked beans. Bacon and eggs for breakfast is […]

Slimming World week 1: Not another diet!

Slimming World week 1: Feature photo

For the past two years since Baby was born all I seem to do is start diets. There was my first attempt to join Slimming World online which left me fuming, my disastrous experience with Lighter Life which left me in need of medical treatment, and a whole host of calorie counting and food optimisation attempts which just left me hungry. With all that in mind, I was hesitant to announce “another” diet attempt, as I really don’t like failing, particularly in public. But after seeing my wedding photos I felt very disappointed in myself and my size 18 figure. I […]

Coolsculpting, cosmetic surgery without the surgery?

Coolsculpting feature image

I’ve been overweight my entire life, thanks to the diet of junk food and takeaways my parents deemed a balanced diet. But with my wedding fast approaching I’m desperate to lose my flab and fit into my beautiful wedding dress. Something that is going to require a LOT of hard work! I’m not ashamed to say that I’ve often thought of cosmetic surgery. But having researched it, I’m just not willing to go through the trauma of having my fat brutally removed, my abdomen cut from one side to the other, the long recovery times, and the chance of infection […]

Weight Loss Diary – Hitting 10% of my goal

Weight Loss Diary

Losing weight should be easy, you eat moderately, you don’t stuff yourself full of junk food and you lose weight. In reality though, losing weight is a pain in the ass! Human bodies evolved to be efficient in a hunter gatherer environment, which means that we crave fats and sugars and are designed to be constantly moving about and working. In a modern society where sugar and fat is easily accessible and we spend most of our time in front of a computer screen, it’s no wonder that most of us could do with losing a few lbs. My weight […]

52lb in 52 Weeks weight loss challenge – Oops!

Weight Loss Diary

Cast your minds back to the beginning of the year when I started my 52lb in 52 weeks challenge. I was so full of enthusiasm and so sure that, as I had done something similar before, I would be able to do it again. Well, coming back to the present I would love to tell you that it had worked, that I am on target and will soon be a new thinner me… Hell, I’d even like to be able to tell you that I had fallen off the wagon, but for that to have happened I would have had […]

Have your consumer rights been slimmed down by Slimming World?

Slimming world are they slimming your consumer rights

Every year, some time between the fourth helping of left over Christmas food and the first serving of New Years Eve bubbly, millions of people in the UK look down at their post Christmas belly which is now sitting rather snugly against their waste band, and think “Hmm… best lose a few pound in the new year”. This year, I was no different. The aftermath of pregnancy and Christmas had left me several dress sizes larger than I was happy with, so I decided that with the help of Slimming World online, I would start my 52lb in 52 weeks […]

Weight Loss Challenge: 52lb in 52 weeks #5

Weight loss and dieting challenge week 5

Can you believe that the end of January is here already? I certainly can’t! Somehow time slips by without me noticing, I blink and another month is gone. This month has been a bit of a weight loss roller coaster. My first week was amazing with a 4lb loss but then I jumped back up and gained 2lb. Luckily since then I’ve been steadily losing 1lb a month, which isn’t terribly exciting but it is exactly what I’ve set myself up to do. I’m sure there are diets out there which would have me losing 2 or 3lb a week […]

Weight Loss Challenge: 52lb in 52weeks #4

Weight loss challenge: 52lb in 52 weeks

This week I’m feeling more positive about my weight loss journey by far. I’ve managed to substitute a number of foods for lower fat alternatives and although this won’t get me far on its own, it’s a start. One of the things I’m struggling with most is getting my head into the right mind frame to diet. I’ve got used to eating what I want, when I want and turning back the clock to a time when I ate what I should, when I should is difficult. By swapping foods such as regular meat for lean meat, I’m doing something […]

52lb in 52 weeks – Week #3

52lb in 52 weeks weight loss challenge

Welcome to week 3 of my 52lb in 52 weeks weight loss challenge! I would like to tell you that after my dodgy start to the year I bucked my ideas up and had a fantastic week where I followed my diet meticulously and lost lots of weight… Unfortunately this would be a shameless lie! What actually happened was that I woke up on Monday with a miserable cold, a poorly Grumpy Dad and a very grumpy teething Baby. As becoming a duvet diver was not an option, I had to ignore the sniffles and the general feelings of retchedness  […]
