The horror of baby changing rooms

Baby Changing Rooms Article www.grumpymum.co.uk

After visiting some of the most disgusting baby changing rooms I’ve ever seen, I’ve been inspired to write about how awful these amenities can be. Baby changing rooms aren’t required by law or by any regulation that I know of, however most businesses who provide toilet facilities and would like to cash in on the mummy (or daddy for that matter) pound, do provide them. The fact that they are purely a cutesy is perhaps why the majority of them make Glastonbury porter loos look clean! Take the changing facility I visited in Debenhams, Bath city center today. This was […]

One Month of Blogging

It’s hard to believe it but the Grumpy Mum Reviews blog has now been live for over a month! When I started this blog, I didn’t expect it to be anything beyond something to pass the time while Grumpy Baby slept. In all honesty it hadn’t occurred to me that anyone would even read my blog, so the response I’ve received so far has been amazing. In the short time that the blog has been live, I’ve had the opportunity to work with some fantastic brands and “meet” some very talented parent bloggers. Notably Mummy In A Tutu who has […]

Costa Coffee – In Hot Water – And another thing…

Costa Coffee in Hot Water www.grumpymum.co.uk

Read the rest of the story… Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4 | Part 5 | Part 6 I never intended to write another follow up to my Costa Coffee story. In truth, I came under some quite unpleasant fire after the story, which was published in the Swindon Advertiser, made it into a comic Facebook page called “Angry People in Local Newspapers”. However, not everyone miss-understood the point of the article and several days later Barrie Hudson, also of the Swindon Advertiser published the following in his column. Save Save Save

British Gas Hyping Up Hive

British Gas Miss-selling Article www.grumpymum.co.uk

When the Grumpy family moved into our new home a few weeks before Grumpy Baby’s arrival, things were hectic to say the least. There was an endless stream of companies to inform and DIY jobs to be done, so when British Gas offered me a free boiler service if I signed up to their HomeCare package, I jumped at the chance of ticking one more thing off my list. The next day the engineer arrived and gave my boiler a clean bill of health with two exceptions. There was a small leak on one of the valves and the thermostat […]

Costa Coffee – In Hot Water – The Final Chapter!

Costa Coffee in Hot Water www.grumpymum.co.uk

This is the final post regarding my experience of Costa Coffee and their head offices inability to get the message across to their stores that staff are allowed to provide hot water to mums wanting to warm their baby’s milk. There are still a lot of branches of Costa where staff have not been made aware of the company policy, however I hope that this is about to change. The local Swindon newspaper, The Swindon Evening Advertiser, has run an article today based on this blog and featuring a quite awful photo of yours truly. I have to admit […]

Costa Coffee – In Hot Water – Part 4

Costa Coffee in Hot Water www.grumpymum.co.uk

Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4 | Part 5 | Part 6 12 days after emailing Costa Coffee once again about being refused hot water to warm my baby milk and I finally received a response from them. “I have raised this matter again with the Area Manager, she has confirmed she has spoken to the Manager Greenbridge store, she has also requested that they send another communication to all stores in this area via internal methods. She does have 230 team members in her region so we can only assume the team members had […]

To Pacify or Not To Pacify

To pacify or not to pacify, that is the question! I’ve always been dead set against dummies. They’re horrible dirty things covered in baby spit and germs. While pregnant, whenever anyone asked me if I intended to use them, I’d shudder and say “No Way!” while visions of a mother picking a dummy up off the floor and popping it in their own mouth to clean it swam through my head making me feel a little queezy. Just the thought of it was vile as far as I was concerned. I didn’t even want one in the house, so when […]

Costa Coffee – In Hot Water – Part 3

Costa Coffee in Hot Water www.grumpymum.co.uk

I had hoped that there would be no part 3 to this saga but sadly the message still doesn’t seem to have seeped through and disappointingly Costa Coffee seem to have decided to no longer respond to my emails advising them when I have been refused hot water for Grumpy Baby’s bottle, against their own policy. In the most recent incident, the Grumpy Family re-visited the branch that started it all at Green Bridge, Swindon. Previously the manager of this branch had been quite rude to me regarding my request for hot water, so we entered hopeful that the message […]

Costa – In Hot Water, bottle feeding woes (Continued)

Costa Coffee in Hot Water www.grumpymum.co.uk

If you haven’t already, you can read my previous post about Costa stores and their confused stance on providing hot water to their customers for the purpose of warming babies bottles HERE. So, following on from my most recent run in with a Costa store informing me that they can’t give me any hot water, I have received the following email from the customer service team manager in the Brand and Social department. Thank you for your email. I will be picking up with the Area Manager again today. I can confirm this information is contained in our brand standards […]
